Akbuk Golf Courses,

News that two golf courses are to be built in Akbuk (picturesque town close to Didim/Altinkum) caused excitement among Voices readers who called, eager to know their locations.

The allocation was announced last week by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Of the 36 plots unveiled across Turkey, nine have been earmarked for Altinkum and Akbuk.

The two areas set for golf courses in Didim have been designated as Mercimek (bordering the  Zonguldakl?lar Estate area and close to the Sultan Kent and Konya Kültür housing estates on the Akbük Road) and Göllüdam (the upper part of Denizköy, again on the Akbük Road).

Mercimek
173 acres of land allocated to a golf course with 18 holes. A holiday village with a capacity of 420 beds will also be built in this area.

Göllüdam
371 acres is allocated for another 18-hole golf course. No accommodation facilities are planned.

Real estate experts and tourism managers said land at Akbük would gain much value due to the fact that both golf courses are near.

Besides the two golf courses, the Ministry will also allocate land in Akbük for the building of 5 hotels, one with a capacity of 750 beds, and a holiday village with a capacity of 250 beds.

This is excellent news for property owners here. Until now one could only go golfing in the Southern part of Turkey or as of next year in Bodrum. With a golf course comming to this area, tourism and property prices will get a boost.

This is good news but what has happened to the plans for a golf course in Didim.  That would have been a bigger boost.

Don't know why Akbuk, maybe because it is outside of town and will develop into an outer resort area. Where Didim/Altinkum will be the city and surrounding towns resorts belonging to...

However, Akbuk is not too far...only 15 mins
